Wherein one says, "I am not my X, I am not my Y" etc.?

I was listening to a podcast of Erik Davis' gnosticism class at Maybe Logic Academy a while back where he talks about the two varieties of ego-collapsing meditations, one of which involves dissolution and the other involving expansion. It's the method of self inquiry by intellectually inquiring to yourself as to the essential nature of your thoughts. I imagine this inquiry going on for quite a while. because you begin with your various body parts, "Am I this body part?" then your thoughts, "Am I this thought?" then you get to the clincher, "Am I the thought of 'I'?" and so on.

http://www.highermeditation.com/ebooks/who_am_i.pdfReverendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02789206915192347028noreply@blogger.com
